Personalized Search Results is a new trend in Google, they are going to use all the information they can get from the way each person navigates the web, to display personalized search results, which means in a way that Google will display different results to each individual according to its search preferences.

As mentioned by Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land: “Personalized search is now the default and none too easy to escape from either through opt-out. This means that every search result you click, every link you bookmark, every RSS feed you subscribe to using Google services can be used to improve your personal search results.”

I wouldn’t be surprised that Google would use other information such us keywords used by the visitor, frequency of visits to a website, time spent in a Website and specific pages navigated, etc., which will tell Google the specific preferences of a person searching the Internet and therefore displaying personalized results to individuals.

And how does this affects the Online Marketing and SEO World? Well now we are going to have to figure it out, develop new techniques and skills as how to influence the Search Engine, in a good way of course, to achieve good placements in Google’s serp.

At Search Engine Land there is a great article that mentions a couple “optimization practices” we are going to have to start thinking of implementing to achieve search visibility, check the article: Optimization Practices for Google Personalized Results

1. Optimizing for Google Services

2. Optimizing for Social Search

3. Optimizing for Social Networks
